Liam Neeson in the “Naked Gun” remake

More than 30 years after the third and final installment of the "Naked Gun" series, the remake of the blockbuster is to be released in cinemas next year. The film studio Paramount Pictures announced the film starring Liam Neeson on Wednesday for July 2025, as reported by "Variety".

Born in Northern Ireland, Neeson (71, "Taken") will take on the role of the scatterbrained police officer Frank Drebin, who was made famous by Leslie Nielsen, who died in 2010.

Cult comedy to be remade
Former "Saturday Night Live" writer Akiva Schaffer (46) is responsible for the direction and screenplay. "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane (50) is on board as producer.

The three films "The Naked Gun", "The Naked Gun 21⁄2" and "The Naked Gun 331⁄3" were released from 1988 to 1994. In addition to Nielsen, Priscilla Presley and former American football player O. J. Simpson also starred in it.
