Men brought dead body in carpet to hearse
In Bavaria, two men wrapped the body of a woman in a carpet and carried it down the stairs of an apartment building. A neighbor observed the unusual transport in Ansbach and called the police.
They discovered that the dead woman was the mother of one of the two men. A death certificate and an inquiry at the registry office confirmed that the 82-year-old woman had died of natural causes in Ansbach on Sunday. As the men had no other means of transportation available, they had wanted to take the body in a carpet to the car of a funeral home. The exact background to this action initially remained unclear.
Violation of burial law?
According to their own statement, the police are now investigating possible violations of burial law. "We first have to check whether this is allowed or not. It's not everyday that a corpse is carried around in a carpet." The deceased was ultimately taken from the house in a hearse.
