Now ORF editorial board wants to prevent Westenthaler
The nomination of Peter Westenthaler by the FPÖ to the ORF Foundation Council continues to cause a stir. After the SPÖ, the ORF editorial board now also wants to prevent the former FPÖ and BZÖ politician from becoming a member.
The reasons for this are Westenthaler's statements that the ORF journalists are a "propaganda machine" - and his announcement that he intends to regularly "inform" about the meetings of the Board of Trustees on a rival broadcaster for which he works.
Appeal to the federal government
The editorial board asks the federal government to check the compatibility of Westenthaler's nomination with the provisions of the ORF Act before appointing him.
The editors also turned to the FPÖ and asked them to "if necessary, nominate a personality who meets the criteria of the ORF Act". SPÖ media spokesperson Muna Duzdar has already made a similar request to Media Minister Susanne Raab. She also sees a possible incompatibility.
