Huge stroke of luck for cyclist in accident with truck

On Thursday afternoon, a 37-year-old local cyclist in the center of Innsbruck was helped by a guardian angel when he was dragged several meters by a truck.

The accident happened at 2.25 p.m. on Südtiroler Platz. The cyclist was traveling south on Bruneckerstraße towards the traffic light-controlled intersection with Südtiroler Platz. After the traffic lights changed to green, he collided with a truck driven by a 53-year-old Austrian.

Only abrasions
According to investigations so far, the cyclist was hit by the truck behind him, he fell and was dragged a few meters along with his bicycle. According to initial findings, the 37-year-old suffered abrasions to his hands and lower right leg in the accident. He was taken to the hospital in Innsbruck.
