Newly occupied vacation home was engulfed by flames

Two Germans wanted to enjoy their vacation in their vacation home in Noreia above Mühlen am Zirbitzkogel on Ash Wednesday. But a sudden fire almost completely destroyed the house.

Two brothers from Germany had just moved into the vacation home in Noreia near Mühlen and to make sure it was nice and warm, they fired up the stove. "Then they went shopping and when they came back, the vacation home was already on fire," reports Martin Liftenegger, local fire department commander of the Hüttenberg fire department.

The Hüttenberg, Mühlen, Mariahof, Neumarkt in der Steiermark and Perchau am Sattel fire departments were alerted immediately at 3.14 pm and were only able to keep the fire in check and contain it. The vacation home has burned down almost completely and is therefore no longer habitable. The fire investigation is ongoing.
