Travel and visa ban
London takes action against radical Israeli settlers
The British government has imposed targeted sanctions against several Israeli settlers in the West Bank. As the Foreign Office in London announced on Monday, four people have been banned from travel and visas. Capital held in the UK will be frozen.
"Extremist settlers are undermining security and stability for Israelis and Palestinians by targeting and attacking Palestinian civilians," British Foreign Secretary David Cameron was quoted as saying in the statement. Britain has once again called on Israel to take action against those responsible for settler violence, to release funds for the Palestinian Authority and to stop the expansion of settlements, the statement continued.
Cameron: "We are very concerned"
The UK also called on Israel to engage in "serious reflection" ahead of a possible offensive in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip. "We are very concerned about what is happening in Rafah," Foreign Secretary Cameron told journalists on Monday. "The people who are there have often been displaced four, five or six times. They have nowhere to go."
