FPÖ appalled
Haider memorial in Carinthia vandalized
In the night from Sunday to Monday, the Jörg Haider memorial in Lambichl in Carinthia was vandalized by unknown perpetrators. The Carinthian FPÖ leader Erwin Angerer and FPÖ Secretary General Josef Ofner expressed their horror.
"We are shocked by this desecration of the Haider memorial by suspected left-wing extremist vandals. Obviously, certain left-wing forces cannot bury their hatred of Jörg Haider even more than 15 years after his death. We condemn such cowardly and disrespectful acts of vandalism in the strongest possible terms," said Angerer and Ofner.
Team Carinthia leader Gerhard Köfer also strongly condemns the vandalism of the memorial: "Such an act is thought-provoking and deeply disrespectful."
Police investigating damage to property
The memorial to the former provincial governor, who died in an accident in the village of Lambichl on October 11, 2008, was vandalized by unknown perpetrators on Monday night. The police are now investigating damage to property.
