Seven injured in carnival float fire

Seven people were injured in a German carnival parade on Sunday. A float in Kehl (Baden-Württemberg) caught fire and several people jumped from the trailer onto the street.

The fire broke out in the interior of the float, which represented a ship. Several members of the carnival group from Glottertal jumped onto the street to save themselves from the flames. However, according to the police in Offenburg, seven people were injured, one of them seriously. He was taken to hospital by rescue helicopter.

Power unit deflagrates
According to the police, the removal van burned out and was taken away. The fire was caused by a deflagrated generator on a trailer shortly after 3 pm. The fire department was able to extinguish the flames quickly. The parade, which had been watched by tens of thousands of people from the roadside, was abandoned.
