Knife attack at Paris train station: three injured
Three people were injured in a knife attack at a Paris train station on Saturday morning. The suspected perpetrator has been arrested and the motive for the attack is unclear, according to the police.
The bloody attack occurred at around 8 a.m. at the Gare de Lyon, an important rail hub where domestic trains as well as trains to Switzerland and Italy pass through. According to an initial preliminary assessment, one person was seriously injured and two others were slightly injured.
The arrested man "did not shout anything" during the attack, according to police sources. The suspect had shown the officers an Italian driving license.
As the railroad company SNCF announced on X (formerly Twitter), the area between station halls 1 and 3 was temporarily closed. There were disruptions to rail traffic, it said.
