Dangerous incident in Tyrol: a police officer's service pistol accidentally fired a shot on Monday - as has only now become known. The man had assumed that his weapon was not loaded. The public prosecutor's office and disciplinary department are involved.

The bullet penetrated a drywall to the adjacent Red Cross premises. Fortunately, there were no people in the corridor area where the bullet hit at the time. As a result, the accidental shooting caused no personal injury. According to investigators, the damage to property was minor.

A report on the case will be submitted to the public prosecutor's office in Innsbruck, according to the police. Disciplinary measures against the officer concerned are also being examined. "According to investigations, the police officer made a mistake when unloading the weapon during an exercise," explained district police commander Gerhard Niederwieser at the request of the "Krone".
