Doctor billed salaries illegally for two years

A doctor from Pongau billed for therapies and infusions that were not provided - now the man was on trial.

The defendant accepted the verdict. The burden of proof seemed too overwhelming. The accusations against the Salzburg doctor were massive on Thursday: in 2020 and 2021, the doctor is said to have billed salaries - without actually having provided the medical services. According to the indictment, the Austrian health insurance fund was thereby damaged by 46,000 euros.

237,000 euros invoiced
The accused allegedly billed for therapies and services totaling 237,000 euros for two years. The charge therefore amounts to 46,000 euros because the health insurance fund did not pay out any further amounts to the doctor from Pongau.

The Pongau doctor received a six-month suspended prison sentence for serious and commercial fraud. He must also pay a fine of 4410 euros. The verdict is not yet final.
