Shocking moment for a walker in Tyrol! The woman encountered a bear on Wednesday morning in the municipality of Ried im Oberinntal (Landeck district) near the settlement. The animal behaved calmly. The municipality is nevertheless warning walkers.

The walker was out and about with her dog in the Herrensteig/Lahnawaldweg area. Suddenly, the woman saw a bear about 70 meters in front of her. The animal behaved calmly. Nevertheless, the municipality has issued a warning and asks for increased caution. The state also recommends that beekeepers protect their hives with an electric fence.

No damage reported
According to the information currently available to the authorities, it can be assumed that a bear was already spotted in the area around the municipality of Ried im Oberinntal last week. "Apart from these reports, the authorities currently have no further reports of sightings or any damage," the province states. No damage has been reported either.

Always shown shy behavior
"We take reports and observations seriously and follow them up for further clarification," says the province, although it emphasizes that all bears that have been spotted in Tyrol in recent years have shown shy behaviour. "The probability of encountering a bear in Tyrol is also extremely low." However, the province of Tyrol is appealing to the population to report sightings of large predators as quickly as possible.
