Musk: “If Starlink goes down, the front will collapse”

US billionaire Elon Musk has emphasized the importance of his Starlink satellite system for Ukrainian troops in the defensive battle against Russia. "If I shut it down, their entire front would collapse," wrote Musk, a close advisor to US President Donald Trump, on his X platform on Sunday. Starlink forms the backbone of the Ukrainian armed forces.

With regard to the war, Musk wrote that he was fed up with years of "battles" in a stalemate and that Ukraine would lose in the end anyway. It was therefore necessary to make peace immediately.

Under Trump, the US government had made a U-turn in its Ukraine policy and recently stopped supporting Kiev altogether. The reason given by the White House was to force Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to negotiate.

Trump had previously blamed him for the war of aggression ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin and accused him of not wanting to end the war. In contrast, the US president attested to Putin's willingness to negotiate. Selensky had recently emphasized several times that he wanted a lasting peace.
