Iran’s police have famous dating show blocked

A famous show for blind dates has brought Iranian police officers onto the scene. Families are said to have complained about social, cultural and moral damage. Young people, on the other hand, are increasingly denouncing the clerical influence in the country.

The Instagram page "vinyvidz" shows an Iranian dating show in which a presenter introduces two strangers through personal questions. At the end of each episode, the participants rate each other. The format is likely to have met with harsh criticism from conservative Islamic circles in Iran. After all, Instagram and YouTube are officially banned in Iran and can only be accessed using so-called tunnel services (VPN).

A total of 15 people responsible have been identified, the news agency Tasnim reported. Several social media sites were affected by the blocks. The most prominent case was the Instagram account "vinyvidz", which is popular in Iran and has a good 1.2 million followers. Those responsible were arrested, summoned or warned, according to the report.

Protests under the slogan "Woman, Life, Freedom"
 The young generation in Iran in particular is increasingly opposing the influence of clerical politics. In the fall of 2022, nationwide protests broke out under the slogan "Woman, Life, Freedom" following the death of a young Iranian Kurdish woman in police custody. Since then, many women in major cities have been defying Islamic dress codes as a sign of protest and self-determination.
