What a special moment for Amalia: the Dutch Crown Princess made her first solo appearance on Saturday and mastered it with flying colors!

Crown Princess Amalia came one step closer to her role as future queen with her first solo performance on Saturday. The 21-year-old came to Vlissingen in the province of Zeeland to christen a new combat support ship of the Dutch Ministry of Defense with the name "Den Helder".

And just like her parents King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, Amalia was not only in a good mood that afternoon, but also extremely confident. The crown princess's baptism of fire was quite something: the ship's christening was even broadcast live on TV!

But Amalia didn't let any possible excitement about her solo debut get to her, smiling amiably at the cameras and chatting to the high-ranking guests in attendance.

"I christen you 'Den Helder' and wish you and your crew a safe journey," said the 21-year-old in a firm voice and majestic gesture. She then used an axe to chop through the rope with which the brand new, almost 180-metre-long supply ship was moored, as reported by the ANP news agency.

And by the way, the future queen also looked radiantly beautiful. She had opted for a real power look for this special moment.

Amalia combined a pink trouser suit with a beige turtleneck sweater, large gold earrings and a braided headband that almost resembled a tiara. A beige camel hair coat and accessories in beige and pink rounded off the look.

Crown Princess Amalia is the eldest of three daughters of the Dutch royal couple. Her sisters Alexia and Ariadne are 19 and 17 years old.

There is a long tradition in the Dutch monarchy of ceremonially naming ships of the naval forces. According to the ANP, the "Den Helder" will be able to supply naval vessels worldwide with fuel, ammunition, water, food and spare parts, as well as being used to combat drug trafficking and provide emergency aid.
