Israeli army reportedly invades Syrian villages

The Israeli army is believed to have entered villages in Syria near the occupied Golan Heights. This was reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. According to the report, Israeli forces were spotted. 

More than twelve army vehicles are said to have appeared in one village. According to a report, Israeli forces set up a post and carried out intensive checks. House searches were also reported to have taken place. The Israeli military said it would not comment on the whereabouts of its troops.

People in the region near the occupied Golan Heights accuse Israel's government of wanting to create new realities and establish military posts and helipads on Syrian soil. In addition, infrastructure and agricultural land have been destroyed.

Israel: fighting weapons caches
Israel's military justifies its action on Syrian territory by saying it is fighting weapons depots and supply routes that are to be used by Hamas and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia. For this reason, Israel's air force reportedly attacked Hezbollah militia positions in southern Lebanon on Thursday evening. Weapons depots and launching facilities were hit, it was reported.

Hezbollah was allied with the government of Syria's former ruler Bashar al-Assad and received arms supplies from Iran via Syria. The argument of taking action against Hezbollah is no longer valid after the change of power, criticized Syria's new President Ahmed al-Sharaa. He called on Israel's army to withdraw from newly occupied territories.
