Car thieves were on the prowl again

A series of car break-ins kept the police on their toes on Friday night. Unknown perpetrators struck in the city of Salzburg and in Flachgau, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

Five vehicles were broken into in the Aigen district - often by smashing the side windows. The thieves were after wallets containing cash, bank cards and other valuables. The perpetrators also struck in Gnigl, where they stole a handbag from a parked car. The bag was later found nearby - but without any contents.

Criminals were also up to mischief in Flachgau. A total of four vehicles were broken into in Bergheim and Hallwang. Once again, the thieves focused on wallets and card cases.

The police assume that the break-ins of the last few days are connected and are investigating in this direction. They also strongly advise against leaving valuables visible in the car - the risk of being targeted by burglars is too great.
