Mystery surrounding Graz man

Unidentified man identified in intensive care unit

An unknown man who was found motionless and without papers in Graz in mid-January and admitted to hospital was a mystery to the police. Following a public appeal, numerous tips were received and the identity of the man has now been clarified.

On January 15, a motionless man was found in the area in front of the McDonalds branch in Conrad-von-Hötzendorf-Straße in Graz and taken to hospital - we reported. He is still in intensive care at Graz Regional Hospital. So far, there are no indications that the man was not at fault. 

The man had no papers on him and was severely emaciated. He only had two sets of keys with him. Nobody seemed to be missing him either. His identity was a mystery to the police.  

The police therefore went public this week with a personal description and a request for information. As the police announced on Friday, numerous tips were received regarding the possible identity of the unknown man. This has now been clarified: It is a 76-year-old man from Graz. The man is still receiving intensive medical treatment.
