23-year-old fatally injured during forestry work

A tragic accident occurred in a forest in the Feldkirchen district on Tuesday morning. A young man was killed by a tree trunk during forestry work. 

A 23-year-old man was carrying out forestry work in the forest in the morning hours on Tuesday. The young man from the Feldkirchen district was felling some trees and went about his work alone. At the same time, a 59-year-old was busy moving the felled trees. 

The RK1 rescue helicopter was deployed
At around 11 a.m., the older worker transported a truckload of logs. When he returned a few minutes later, he saw his young colleague lying under a tree trunk. "He immediately alerted the emergency services. The crew of the RK1 rescue helicopter was able to land in a clearing nearby," reports the police. 

Rapid rescue chain
Together with officers from the Bodensdorf patrol, the scene of the accident was located. The casualty was rescued from the steep slope and the arriving emergency doctor administered first aid. Unfortunately, however, all help came too late and the 23-year-old succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident.
