Large crowd at the early election day

They obviously didn't want to wait until January 19 to cast their vote: Early voting day took place throughout Burgenland on Friday - and interest was high. Almost 34,300 people cast their vote on Friday.

Exactly 34,267 people - including some top candidates - took the opportunity to vote. This means that 13.7 percent of those eligible to vote have already made up their minds.

More and more people are voting earlier
The trend is rising. In the 2015 state election, 8.55% of those eligible to vote at the time took advantage of the early voting day; in 2020, this figure was just over 11%.

Partially high turnout
There was a particularly high voter turnout on Friday in the municipalities of Badersdorf (41%), Heugraben (31%) and Bildein (30%). In contrast, Bruckneudorf, Oberwart and Jennersdorf were much more reserved with a turnout of around 7 percent each. Here, people are apparently waiting for the regular election day on January 19.

Polling cards popular
There are also many people who take the opportunity to cast their vote using a polling card. This option is also likely to become increasingly popular. Although there are no concrete figures available, one indication of this is that the "on-the-fly electoral authority" is being used less and less.
