Four fire departments and the Red Cross are currently in action in Eferding. There is a fire in an apartment building in the middle of the city. The Red Cross has several patients to care for, three are already on their way to hospital. One apartment was affected by the fire, but the fire is now "out".

The Eferding and Pupping fire departments were alerted at 8.48 a.m., six minutes later the alarm level 2 was triggered, the sirens also blared in Fraham and Hinzenbach and the Red Cross was sent on the march.

Smoke gas inhaled during escape
During the escape from the apartment building, several people had apparently inhaled too much smoke and were treated on site. At least three of those affected had to be taken to hospital for further assessment. However, it is likely that they only suffered minor smoke inhalation.

Heavy smoke
In the meantime, three of the four fire departments have arrived, the partially burnt-out apartment has been extinguished and the destroyed furniture has been taken outside. There was heavy smoke in the stairwell after the smoke drifted out through the apartment door on the ground floor.
