Despite salary waiver: Sane threatened with Bayern exit

Leroy Sane's contract with FC Bayern expires at the end of the season - and it is not to be extended. The 28-year-old German wants to stay, and would even give up his salary to do so. 

After the Leipzig game, he answered the question of whether he wanted to stay with a brief "yes", according to the newspaper "Bild". However, according to the article, the signs are pointing to a separation - Sane is even threatened with leaving the German record champions in the summer after five years.

The reason: Bayern no longer believe in his big breakthrough. After all, Sane has rarely played consistently at the top level over a longer period of time. After a summit meeting between sports bosses Max Eberl and Christoph Freund with Sane's side, further cooperation would be viewed critically, with the thumbs down at the moment, writes Bild.

However, the door to the negotiators is not yet closed. If Sane impresses in important games in the second half of the season and has not yet signed for another club, there could still be a rethink, it continues.
