Driver was startled and crashed into a parked car

The result of a rather unfortunate traffic accident was observed by a "Krone" reader reporter from his window in Vienna's Neustiftgasse on New Year's Eve. Curiously, the driver of the car involved in the accident was on his way to hospital anyway. 

It was around 10.30 p.m. in the late evening when the police, professional fire department and professional ambulance service were called to Neustiftgasse. The reason was a car that had crashed into parked vehicles. The reason for the call-out was quite unusual: the driver of the car involved in the accident was on his way to hospital with his 38-year-old wife.

Whether out of pain or because she too was startled by something, she probably screamed out loud in the passenger seat. The scream apparently startled the husband so much that he lost control of his steering wheel and crashed into a parked car. Daniel Melcher from the professional rescue service confirmed the incident. The 38-year-old suffered bruising to her legs and was taken to hospital.
