Pedestrian (58) hit on safety path

A somewhat mysterious accident occurred in Bregenz on Monday evening. A 58-year-old woman was hit by a car driver on the safety path at the HTL traffic circle. The driver had previously stopped when the woman reached the middle of the safety lane, but accelerated. 

The driver hit the woman on the left side with the front of the vehicle. She was thrown forward and fell onto the road. The emergency services were alerted and took the pedestrian to hospital after first aid. 

Police investigate
In order to clarify why the driver, who had stopped, suddenly drove off again, the police have now started an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident.
