Felix Magath’s coaching comeback on the horizon

What a pity! Apparently Felix Magath will not be making a comeback as coach after all! The 71-year-old German is said to have turned down the chance to coach Spielvereinigung Unterhaching - as reported by the "Bild-Zeitung".

According to the report, there had been talks between Bayern's former champion coach and Haching president Manfred Schwabl, which had allegedly already "progressed quite far". But: Magath ultimately lacked the prospects. He wants to be in the Bundesliga!

Since the beginning of December, Sven Bender has been in charge of the third division club from Munich, which is in serious danger of relegation, after Marc Unterberger was released by the club. However, Bender does not have a coaching license - now the traditional club has to act.

After the first half of the season, the traditional club is in last place in the 3rd division, in 20th place in the table and six points behind a non-relegation place.

Magath has worked for Bayern Munich, Stuttgart, HSV, Schalke and Admira, among others. Most recently, he managed to avoid relegation with Hertha in the final sprint of the 2021/2022 season. The former Happel player became German champion three times, in 2005 and 2006 with Bayern and in 2009 with Wolfsburg.
