Biodiversity can now be explored free of charge at Lake Ossiach. A two-hour tour provides an overview of the numerous bird species.

Lake Ossiach is one of the most biodiverse areas in Carinthia and is a popular home for rare bird species in particular. For this reason, the city of Villach is offering free observation tours through the natural area for the first time.

"The leisurely, two-hour tour leads from the spawning sanctuary on the Ossiacher Seebach, a wetland area covering more than six hectares and a valuable gem for many bird species, to the nature reserve on the western bay of Lake Ossiach," explains Villach's nature and environmental protection officer Sascha Jabali Adeh.

Overview of numerous bird species
Together with ornithologist Ulrike Knely, the aim is not only to give the public an overview of the numerous bird species, but also to provide information about the animals, some of which are endangered. Valuable tips on bird protection will also be provided.

The route will be adapted to the weather conditions and the needs of the participants.
