Snowboarder (16) fell and “mowed down” his father

St. Stephen's Day ended in hospital for a holidaymaker from Poland in Tyrol. The 54-year-old was snowboarding with his son (16) in Alpbach (Kufstein district). This resulted in a serious collision between the two of them. There was also a fatal crash in Imst in the Oberland.

It was supposed to be a wonderful winter sports day in the "Skijuwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau". The father and son team had a great time until around 1 pm. But then it happened!

Fatal collision after a fall
The holidaymakers were riding their snowboards downhill on a red-marked slope. Shortly before reaching their destination, the father stopped briefly. "His son fell behind him and collided with him with full force," said the police. The 54-year-old suffered injuries.

Alerted mountain rescuers brought the Pole down to the valley, where he was taken over by the rescue team and taken to hospital.

Accident on the piste in Imst too
A skiing accident had already occurred in Imst in the morning. There was a collision between a 61-year-old woman and a man (29) on a red-marked piste. The local woman had to be transported to the valley by ambulance. She was taken to hospital there.
