Ski instructor booked online was a nasty fraudster

Scams on the internet are a dime a dozen or - converted to Tyrol - like snow on the slopes. A Russian woman (36) can now tell you a thing or two about it. The woman booked a Russian-speaking ski instructor online in the run-up to her winter vacation. When she arrived in Tyrol, she realized that she had fallen into a scammer's trap.

On Christmas Day, the 36-year-old Russian woman went straight to the Oetz police station instead of the cable car. The holidaymaker stated that she had booked a ski course with a Russian-speaking ski instructor for the Hochoetz area via a website at the end of November and had paid a deposit. 

On the day of arrival, the alleged ski instructor contacted her via messaging service and feigned an emergency.

But nothing came of it. "On the day of arrival, the alleged ski instructor contacted me via messaging service and feigned an emergency. After that, contact was broken off," according to the investigators.

Money lost, manhunt for perpetrator
The fraud caused the victim a loss of more than 1000 euros. There is no trace of the perpetrator. The police have started an investigation.
