4th hike: Alpine Mountain Advent on Monte Lussari

Hundreds celebrated the fourth Sunday in Advent on Monte Lussari with the mountain rescue service, church and "Bergkrone".

The Advent hikes have long been a great tradition," said the Tarvisio members of Soccorso Alpino, who accompanied the Advent hikers on the penitential trail up to the 1790-metre-high summit of Monte Lussari alongside numerous Carinthian mountain rescuers and alpine police officers, including regional leader Hannes Gütler.

The Lussari is an annual fixture for former provincial head Gerhard Dörfler, as it is for many others, and some, such as Karin and Othmar Altmann from Skinfit, used the ascent for the first ski tour of this winter.

Right next to the summit cross, mountain chaplain Roland Stadler held a mountain devotion before Monsignor Engelbert Guggenberger invited people to Holy Mass in the pilgrimage church, wearing his ski touring boots under his priest's robe.
