Innkeeper caught sneaking in on “hostel hunt”

It wasn't in Bethlehem, but in the Mühlviertel. And it wasn't a couple with a baby in their womb, but a thief with several criminal convictions who was found by a landlord in his house at 6am. The criminal "hostel search" ended in the harbor. But at least it's warm there.

An innkeeper from Herzogsdorf called the police at around 6.20 a.m. on December 2024, stating that he had just found an unknown man in his inn. The man had probably spent the night there and consumed something. When he caught him, the man fled.

The manhunt was successful
An immediate manhunt was successful and the 28-year-old German citizen was arrested in the vicinity. During the initial investigations, it became known that the person already had a criminal record for similar offenses in Germany and Switzerland and that he had only completed his last prison sentence at the beginning of August 2024.

20 thefts proven
So far, 20 thefts/document suppression, burglaries and thefts of wallets have been proven against him in Austria. After consultation with the Linz public prosecutor's office, the 28-year-old was taken to Linz prison after questioning.
