Only 55th place! Vincent Kriechmayr was bitterly disappointed on Saturday in the downhill classic in Val Gardena/Gröden. At the finish line, the 33-year-old Upper Austrian was extremely annoyed: "If I continue to ski at the back like this, I'll take my hat off!"

Kriechmayr made a serious mistake in the middle section - the race was over for him.

Kriechmayr lacks the basic speed
The ÖSV skier, who was victorious two years ago on a shortened course in Val Gardena/Gröden, was "annoyed" with himself. "The balance after the first four speed races of the season is not so positive. At least I had a basic speed in Beaver Creek, which I completely lost there," Kriechmayr was somewhat perplexed in the ORF interview.

A little later he found even clearer words: "Something has to change. If I continue to ride behind like this, I'll take my hat off. That's not my ambition!"

Babinsky: "I'm certainly not going to give up"
 Stefan Babinsky, who only finished 51st, was also unable to fully explain why he was lagging behind. "I feel good, there's a bit of progress too. I'm certainly not going to give up until I get where I want to be."
