Constantini’s death: Emotional message from Fjörtoft

Following the death of coaching legend Didi Constantini (69), ex-Rapid kicker Jan-Age Fjörtoft has spoken out with an emotional message. "I am so sad," the 57-year-old wrote on social media.

He was once a crowd favorite at Rapid and Frankfurt, and Jan-Age Fjörtoft now cuts a fine figure as a pundit on ServusTV. But on Wednesday morning, even the usually good-humored Norwegian didn't feel like laughing. Didi Constantini, one of his former "bosses", passed away at the age of 69.

The news of Constantini's death made him "so sad". "When I came to Rapid, he was the assistant coach. He helped me a lot to settle in at the club," Fjörtoft wrote in his latest post.

"I'll never forget you"
 The popular Tyrolean was "one of the good guys". "Good-looking and a man who was at home in all countries. He had a lot of great skills, but one of the best was 'looking at everyone individually'," said Fjörtoft. "Rest in peace, Didi. I will never forget you. I will be forever grateful to you."

Dementia illness made public in 2019
In 2019, Constantini and his family made a dementia illness public. Since then, he had largely withdrawn from the public eye. He leaves behind two children.
