Three schools in Graz closed due to bomb threats

Once again on Tuesday morning, four schools in Graz were in turmoil due to threatening e-mails. The pattern is reminiscent of the now numerous cases in the recent past.

The schools affected were the Bundesgymnasium GIBS, the AHS Reininghaus and the Volksschule Jägergrund in the west of Graz as well as the Mittelschule St. Andrä in the district of Gries. In all four cases, bomb threats were received by email. The schools contacted the police, who then searched the buildings - this time during normal operations, confirms spokesman Fritz Grundnig. As in all other cases, nothing was found.

Last wave of threats in Graz only a week ago
The authorities now have a routine in such cases: Just over a week ago, several schools in Graz had to be closed due to similarly worded threats. Particularly bitter: Jägergrund elementary school has now been targeted for the second time.

On Tuesday, not only Styria was affected by the new wave of threats, there were also similar cases in Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Carinthia. In St. Pölten, many parents were only informed about the lockdowns at extremely short notice, resulting in chaos. Adequate supervision could not be ensured for all pupils who were already on their way to school.
