Two drivers injured in head-on collision

Serious traffic accident on the Ötztalstraße in Tyrol on Sunday afternoon! Two cars collided at a junction for unknown reasons. The two drivers (24 and 56 years old) were injured. 

At around 2.40 pm, a 24-year-old Swiss man was driving his car on the Timmelsjochstraße in the direction of Sölden. A woman of the same age was sitting in the passenger seat. At the junction in the direction of Gurgl-Obergurgl, the Swiss man crashed into the car of a 56-year-old Austrian man who was driving on the Ötztal road in the direction of Obergurgl.

Accident scene closed for around an hour
"While the Swiss driver's co-driver was uninjured, both drivers suffered injuries," said the police. The 56-year-old was slightly injured, while the Swiss driver had to be taken to hospital in Zams by emergency helicopter after receiving first aid. Both cars sustained considerable material damage. The Ötztal road had to be closed to all traffic for around an hour.
