Now the winter birds are making their grand entrance

Joint bird count as a contribution to research into biodiversity in Lower Austria: from January 4, it's time to get your binoculars out! The House of Nature and the House of Wilderness also offer program points.

When the "Hour of the Winter Birds" strikes, BirdLife once again invites all animal watchers and nature lovers to actively participate in the community bird count and thus make an important contribution to research into biodiversity.

Together with the Haus für Natur in St. Pölten and the Haus der Wildnis in Lunz am See, the feathered friends will once again be eagerly scrutinized from 4 to 6 January - whether on the balcony, in the garden or in the park: for one hour, "the individuals of each species observed will be counted and the results subsequently reported".

Program items for the bird count
The exhibition "Tierisch mobil! Nature on the move" exhibition at the Museum of Lower Austria provides additional information on local bird species. Here, visitors are also invited to observe birds together in the museum garden. On January 4, the Haus der Wildnis offers an observation tour through Lunz together with an ornithologist.
