Three ÖSV eagles put Paschke under pressure

Strong performance by the ÖSV eagles at the ski jumping event in Wisla. However, the German Pius Paschke was once again able to celebrate the day's victory. He relegated Jan Hörl, Stefan Kraft and Daniel Tschofenig to the other places. 

Austria's ski jumpers continue to be a team power in the World Cup. In the clear victory of the German Pius Paschke on Sunday in Wisla with 298.6 points, Jan Hörl came second (290.1), Stefan Kraft third (286.1) and Saturday's winner Daniel Tschofenig fourth (285.0). For the ÖSV men, these were podium places number nine and ten this winter. In the sixth competition of the season, there was at least one Austrian athlete on the podium.

"It's going well, it's a lot of fun. Ski jumping is just getting easier for me, there's not so much head involved. That's very important in ski jumping," said Hörl. He had this to say about Paschke: "I felt I made two very good jumps. It's probably the yellow jersey that spurs me on. He really did a good job. He jumps like he's wound up."

Paschke dominates start to the season
It was Paschke's third win of the season and the fourth for the German team. He extended his lead in the World Cup again and is now 96 points ahead of his first rival Tschofenig. Before the Four Hills Tournament, there are still two World Cup competitions in Titisee-Neustadt next weekend and in Engelberg the following weekend.

Kraft is already looking forward to Titisee-Neustadt. "Cool place, cool jump. It's still an old goat, an old track, it's still going strong. Something is alive there. I think we rarely have old characteristics like that anymore anyway." Tschofenig didn't want to complain after the "very, very good weekend", even though he missed out on the podium this time.
