Breathe a sigh of relief! Bove extubated after cardiac arrest

Great relief for Edoardo Bove. After the Fiorentina professional went down in the 17th minute of the Serie A match against Inter Milan on Sunday without any outside influence and was taken to hospital in the intensive care unit, the night should have gone well and the midfielder has been extubated again. 

As insider Fabrizio Romano announced on Instagram on Monday morning, Bove is conscious and able to answer questions. The 22-year-old Romano had suffered no brain or heart damage and was on the road to recovery.

Just as referee Daniele Doveri had interrupted the game on Sunday evening for a VAR check, Bove had dropped to his knees - probably to tie his shoes. Suddenly, the Italian fell over unconscious, the game was immediately stopped and paramedics and team doctors rushed to the 14-time international's aid. Players from both teams gathered around the motionless player to protect him from prying eyes - some with tears in their eyes.

Now the reassuring news: Bove is likely to have escaped a major catastrophe and is on the road to recovery.
