“Action sharp” on the Fernpass: trucks confiscated

The Tyrolean police carried out a 24-hour priority check on truck traffic on the Fernpass route near Nassereith (Imst district). The results are sobering - there were numerous reports. One truck was even confiscated by order of the public prosecutor's office.

The "Aktion scharf" took place from 7 a.m. on Monday until early Tuesday morning. More than 30 officers and two service dogs were deployed during the priority check in Nassereith. Particularly in their sights: heavy goods vehicles!

Almost 300 trucks were checked
A total of 286 trucks were inspected in the 24 hours. Driving and rest times were violated in 53 cases. Eleven truck drivers ignored the sectoral driving ban in force on the Fernpass. Nine heavy goods vehicles were overloaded. In addition, six further infringements were recorded due to other deficiencies.

Judiciary ordered seizure
For one truck driver, the checkpoint was the end of the line. The vehicle in which the man was traveling was "provisionally seized by order of the Innsbruck public prosecutor's office on suspicion of technical manipulation," reported the executive.
