Nintendo amusement park now with Donkey Kong area

The traditional video game company Nintendo operates its first amusement park in Osaka, Japan - Super Nintendo World. A new attraction is due to open there soon: an area dedicated entirely to Nintendo's wild monkey Donkey Kong.

In the video above, "Super Mario" inventor Shigeru Miyamoto presents the new attractions in the Donkey Kong area of the Nintendo theme park in more detail. There's drumming, hunting for bananas - and you can even expect an encounter with the giant ape in the flesh.

Nintendo's theme park is located on the Universal Studios Japan site in Osaka and opened its doors three years ago. Since then, fans of Nintendo heroes such as Mario, Yoshi and Luigi have been able to enjoy attractions and even enjoy Nintendo-inspired snacks.

There is nothing comparable in Europe so far. However, Super Mario amusement parks like those in Japan are also planned for the US Universal Studio parks in Orlando and Hollywood - and the success of the Japanese offshoot should certainly encourage Nintendo to expand in this area.

Nintendo also recently opened its own museum - at the company headquarters in Kyoto, where the Japanese emperors once resided. While the museum is dedicated to Nintendo's 135-year history, the theme park in Osaka is primarily about entertainment.
