After Roma fuss: Spaniards want to get Kevin Danso

After the deal with AS Roma fell through, LaLiga club Villarreal are now apparently courting Austrian footballer Kevin Danso. 

"Villarreal have set their sights on Kevin Danso, a 26-year-old Austrian defender from Lens, for the upcoming summer transfer window," writes transfer insider Ekrem Konur on Twitter. " They see him as a priority to strengthen their defense with international experience for European competitions."

Sounds logical! Villarreal are in fourth place in the league, but have already conceded 19 goals in twelve league games. Danso could help.

25 million euros transfer fee
Although the Austrian footballer still has a contract with Lens until 2027, the French club would not put any obstacles in his way - especially not after the turmoil with Roma. The transfer to the Italians was virtually through when heart problems were suddenly discovered during the medical check - and the deal was off. Now Danso is back, fit as a fiddle and ready for a move to a stronger league.

The Romans are said to have been prepared to pay the sum of 25 million euros demanded by Lens (including two million euros in bonus payments). Villarreal will also have to adjust to this.
