16-year-old duo tracked down after knife attack

After a bloody knife attack in Graz at the beginning of September, the police have identified two suspects. The victim, a 16-year-old Turk, was seriously injured at the time.

The crime took place on September 9th in the district of Gries. The 16-year-old was attacked with a knife by unknown perpetrators and suffered serious injuries to his back.

Suspicious duo from the Graz area and Leoben
Back in October, Styrian homicide investigators together with the task force for combating street crime were able to identify a 16-year-old from the Graz-Umgebung district as a suspect. His alleged accomplice, a girl of the same age from Leoben, has now also been identified and arrested immediately.

Revenge after a dispute over drugs?
According to the police, the background is likely to lie in the drug scene. A deal involving a small amount of cocaine may have fallen through, and the two now arrested may have been retaliating, according to the current investigation.

The duo have basically confessed to the incident, but they deny any intention to injure or even kill. However, the investigation is still looking into attempted murder. The two 16-year-olds are in custody in Jakomini prison.
