He barely had it in his pocket before he had to hand it in again: A 17-year-old speeding driver who sped along the Inntal highway (A12) in the Tyrolean Oberland at almost 200 km/h on Sunday evening has lost his probationary driver's license. His car was also confiscated.

The 17-year-old local was obviously in a particular hurry. Shortly before 8.30 p.m., the speeding driver caught the eye of a police patrol on the A12 near Schönwies. The novice driver was speeding east at 184 km/h.

However, only 100 km/h would have been permitted in this section. The officers took up the pursuit and were then able to stop the suspected speeding driver at the highway parking lot in Mils near Imst.

The 17-year-old driver's license was confiscated on the spot. The vehicle was provisionally confiscated.

35 vehicles confiscated in Tyrol so far
Since March 1, extreme speeders in Austria have been threatened with the loss of their car. Including the current case, 35 vehicles have already been seized in Tyrol since then. In 23 cases, it was cars, eleven times motorcycle drivers were caught and once even a small truck was dramatically speeding.

Most vehicles were confiscated in the district of Kufstein (8), followed by Innsbruck city and province (6) as well as the districts of Landeck (6), Lienz (6) Schwaz (4) and Imst (3) and Kitzbühel (2). Only in the Außerfern was there no vehicle recovery.
