Trump and Musk together at UFC fight in New York

US President-elect Donald Trump is currently busy putting together his government team - and now the 78-year-old has apparently taken a break. He attended a heavyweight fight of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in New York with prominent supporters.

The future US president was joined at the famous Madison Square Garden by UFC CEO Dana White and tech billionaire and future government advisor Elon Musk, among others. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was appointed Secretary of Health and Human Services by Trump, and rock rapper Kid Rock were also in attendance.

The UFC is the largest professional league for mixed martial arts (MMA), a very popular combat sport that combines various disciplines, especially in the USA. Fighters use elements and techniques from boxing, kickboxing and wrestling, among others, in their duels in cage-like rings.

Fight postponed
Trump attended the heavyweight fight between Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones on Saturday evening (local time). The fight was supposed to take place last November, but was postponed because Jones, who is regarded as the world's best UFC fighter, was injured in training.

Scandal over comedian
Trump last appeared at a rally in Madison Square Garden a few days before the presidential election, which came under heavy criticism for racist remarks. The appearance of comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who described Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage", caused a particular stir. Trump, on the other hand, later described the event as a "celebration of love".
