Caregiver stole the gold ducats of her charges

A Romanian woman (39) shamelessly exploited the trust of an elderly couple. The woman was particularly attracted to the gold jewelry and gold ducats of the people entrusted to her care - trial! 

A helpless couple from Sollenau in the district of Wiener Neustadt were in need of care. The woman and her husband, who had been married for decades and had grown old together, thought they were safe in a 39-year-old caregiver from Eastern Europe, who initially looked after them very lovingly.

The disappointment was all the greater when a nasty coup was uncovered. The supposedly caring helper began to plunder the belongings of the woman entrusted to her care. Among other things, the Romanian woman found a gold bracelet hidden in her desk and a locked jewelry box containing gold ducats.

Valuable loot
Due to the value of almost 50,000 euros, the unscrupulous thief was sentenced to two years and six months for aggravated commercial fraud. Defense lawyer Constantin-Adrian Nitu filed an appeal with the Vienna Higher Regional Court. A decision is still pending.
