Flood helpers are “kneaded” for thanks

Good for body and soul: the fire department team from Raabs an der Thaya is now receiving a free massage for their efforts during the floods. However, this can be enjoyed individually for 30 minutes each. 800 firefighters from the Waldviertel are invited to free cabaret evenings by the Waldviertler Sparkasse.

The situation was tense for days when the flood disaster hit the region with full force. Many firemen and women fought, often to the point of absolute exhaustion, to save what could still be saved. Even if there was sometimes little hope and no chance.

Memories of the 2006 disaster
In Raabs in the Waldviertel, where the German and Moravian Thaya rivers join, memories of the great flood of 2006 came flooding back, but thanks to the efforts of the Raabs weir, the flood was largely tamed.

As a thank you, human energy therapist Zhaoying Wei gave the Florianis a special gift: each volunteer received a 30-minute massage, the total value of which is estimated at around 1500 euros. The Raab firefighters accepted the symbolic voucher with beaming smiles.

The Waldviertler Sparkasse savings bank based in Zwettl also gratefully invites 800 members of the fire department to free cabaret evenings in Waidhofen and Zwettl on November 25 and 26: Gabriel Castañeda will be performing "Chili, Chili!"
