Coli bacteria in the water: fire department supplies site

Bacteria in the drinking water! A warning was issued for 180 households in Weidlingbach, a cadastral municipality in the district of Tulln (Lower Austria). Coli bacteria were found in a standard test. The fire department is now helping to supply drinking water.

Although protective chlorination was started immediately, the municipality says that under no circumstances should the drinking water - some of which is still in the pipes - be used unboiled. The rest of Klosterneuburg's water supply is not affected.

Extensive investigations into the source of the contamination are underway, they say. The fire department has set up a water distribution point for the 180 households affected - daily from 12 noon to 6 pm.

The measures will remain in place until the cause has been found. And that can take time: It is currently expected to take at least ten to 14 days, reports the town hall.
