Courage in the fight against violence against women

"Violence has many faces, civil courage even more": municipalities across the country support affected women with offers of help. Because every woman has the right to a life free of violence. 

Every woman in this vast country should and must know where she can find help and refuge in the event of domestic violence. To ensure that this is achieved across the board, the municipalities are actively involved in the fight against violence against women. In many cases, they are the first point of contact for problems or questions of any kind.

The goal of encouraging affected women to take advantage of the help on offer can only be achieved if everyone pulls together, says Provincial Councillor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister. "It's time to bring the committed communities in front of the curtain. To make visible who is already involved - because: Violence has many faces, civil courage even more," said Teschl-Hofmeister.

"16 days against violence"
In this way, municipalities are sending a clear signal against violence. "Only together can we support women affected by violence towards a self-determined and violence-free life," explains Johannes Pressl, President of the Association of Municipalities. Under the motto "Orange the World", the "16 Days against Violence against Women" will once again take place this year from November 25 to December 10 as a sign of solidarity with the victims.
