In his new photo book, photographer Christian Wöckinger devotes himself entirely to the city of Salzburg. Unusual perspectives on well-known places and buildings are in the foreground.

The Schranne in the early hours of the morning, the maypole in Aigen and the Krauthügel in the depths of winter - all these things represent the city of Salzburg. Alongside the numerous landmarks of the provincial capital that are known far beyond its borders, they fill a photo book by photographer Christian Wöckinger.

The advertising and industrial photographer spent months on the prowl with his Hasselblad camera. On and off the tourist trail, he pressed the shutter release from different, often completely unknown angles. Wöckinger's pictures probably leave many Salzburg experts wondering where the photographed location might be.

Long-established Salzburgers will recognize much, but not everything, in the work published by Anton Pustet Verlag. In the end, however, every viewer will find a place in Salzburg that they know but have never seen before. The photographer, who has lived and worked in Saalfelden since 1998, was particularly interested in the unknown in the familiar.

Texts by Matthias Gruber and Eva Krallinger-Gruber as well as the historian Arnold Klaffenböck provide a worthy setting for Wöckinger's pictures.
