An animal rescue mission for the St. Johann in Tirol fire department on Tuesday: the rescuers were able to free a cat from a plastic pipe into which the velvet paw had slipped. A happy ending at the last second, as the completely weakened kitty would probably not have survived much longer.

The cute velvet paw almost paid with her life for the trial run on a company site in St. Johann. There are several concrete rings on the site, each with a plastic pipe embedded in it.

Passer-by heard loud meowing
The cat fell into one of these and would never have been able to free itself. The animal survived thanks to an attentive passer-by who heard the meowing "screaming for help" and informed the Tyrol control center.

A crane was needed to rescue it
The fire department arrived - but the rescue was not that easy. In order to get to the "pipe prison", the emergency services first had to use a crane to lift the concrete rings above it. "Only then could the animal be gently freed from its predicament," they say.

Owner urgently sought
It is not yet clear who the cat belongs to. After the cat was successfully rescued, it was first taken to a vet and then to the "Samtpfotenstube". There she is now waiting for her owner.
