Shock: Influencer impaled by swordfish

Giulia Manfrini, a 36-year-old Italian influencer, has tragically passed away. She was impaled by a swordfish while surfing in Indonesia.

The accident happened off the coast of the Mentawai Islands when the fish hit the Italian woman directly in the chest. According to reports from "Essentially Sports", Manfrini had a five-centimeter deep stab wound on the left side of her chest.

Eyewitnesses described the swordfish jumping out of the water and hitting the 36-year-old before she could react.

Influencer could no longer be saved 
Despite immediate help from two other surfers, the 36-year-old Italian woman could no longer be saved. She succumbed to her injuries shortly afterwards in hospital.

The mayor of her home town of Venaria Reale in Piedmont expressed his deepest sympathy and described the incident as a "tragic loss", Italian media reported. 

Numerous messages of condolence were also posted on her social media channels. Manfrini last lived in Bali and worked there as a surf instructor.

Deaths from swordfish are extremely rare in Indonesia. Experts told "gazetta.it" about a similar incident in Hawaii in 2015, in which a fisherman was fatally injured.
